Pioneering the Future of Education

Led by University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong and University President Chen Shiyi, SUSTech has had the mission of reforming higher education in China since its launch in 2011. By taking a pioneering and innovative approach, it has been widely regarded as collectively moving the higher education sector forward to match the needs of China and its role in education on a global scale.

In 2012, the Ministry of Education endorsed and acknowledged the university as a platform for experimenting with Chinese higher education reform.

A Long-Term Vision

By 2020, an additional six academic colleges will be established, including the Medical School, the Business School and the College of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Further to that, the university’s commitment to interdisciplinary research shall be enhanced by the establishment of 26 research centers.
