On January 6, the Shenzhen Institute of Quantum Science and Engineering (SIQSE), headquartered at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), was one of the co-hosts of the 23rdQuantum Information Processing 2020, QIP2020. More than 700 experts and scholars from around the world came to Shenzhen to discuss developments in cutting-edge scientific and technological issues such as quantum computing, quantum information, and quantum cryptography, as well as quantum advantages and key technologies of quantum information processing in the post-Moore era. SIQSE Dean and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Academician Yu Dapeng presided over the Conference, with fellow CAS Academician & University of Science and Technology China Executive Vice President Pan Jianwei acting as the chairman.

The five-day conference saw 74 academic and five conference reports while exhibiting 300 posters displaying cutting-edge quantum science and technology.

SIQSE Dean Yu Dapeng welcomed colleagues from home and abroad in his opening speech and looked forward to the considerable development in quantum science and technology.

Other speeches throughout the Conference came from University of Washington Ewin Tang, Baidu Research Institute researcher Wang Xin, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich)postdoctoral researcher Mischa Woods, Duke University Professor Kenneth Brown, California Institute of Technology (Caltech) postdoctoral researcher Anand Natarajan, and Google’s Sergio Boxio.

The Conference also featured many high-tech companies such as Shenzhen Liangxuan Technology, Alibaba Quantum Laboratory, and Huawei. All the companies took the opportunity to display their quantum computing platforms.

On January 8, SUSTech hosted a campus tour for many of the Conference participants. They learned about SUSTech’s research results, and many praised SUSTech for its rapid development in quantum science & technology.

The Conference provided a platform for scholars and experts to communicate their latest quantum theory research results while promoting developments within the discipline.
