On the afternoon of December 12, 2017, Academician Wang Enge, a professor of the Peking University School of Physics and Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was the guest speaker at SUSTech Lecture Hall. Professor Wang revealed the latest developments in physics and what the future holds for physics and humanity. President Chen Shiyi presided over the lecture.

As a Chinese physicist, he has published more than 320 research papers and his work has been cited in over 15,000 papers. He has won a series of important domestic and international awards including the Physics Prize of the Academy of Sciences in China and the Humboldt Research Award.

In his speech, Professor Wang revealed how science and technology can affect our thoughts and way of life. He continued to explain that nature is the environment in which mankind was born into and that technology is the environment that was then created by mankind. Furthermore, he explained the history of development and evolution from classical physics to modern physics. He elaborated on the establishment and development of classical physics, how modern physics emerged from classical physics, and how the foundation for the modern development of science and technology was laid.

He concluded his lecture by referencing current events and exploring the relationship between physics and humanities, society and the arts, and the impact of all this on the future of mankind.

Professor Wang impressed his audience with his profound knowledge and humor.
